Siena Mattress Firmness and Feel
Before you buy a new mattress, you should take some time to research its firmness and feel. That way, you can be certain that it will work for you!
How Firm is the Siena Mattress?
The Siena mattress feels slightly softer than medium-firm, coming in at 6/10 on our firmness scale. For reference, 6.5/10 is considered the industry standard for medium-firm. If you like to gently sink into your mattress and feel tons of body contouring, this could be the perfect mattress.
Sleeping On The Siena Mattress
Back sleepers probably won’t get the proper lumbar support on the Siena mattress. However, it’s important to remember that firmness is subjective and greatly depends on a person’s body type. Heavier folks might find this mattress feels firmer, so it could provide more support for these folks in this sleeping position.
Most side sleepers should feel plenty of pressure relief on the Siena mattress. The soft, cushy memory foam will help alleviate pain along shoulders and hips.
Stomach sleepers will find the Siena mattress isn’t quite firm enough. Over time, stomach sleepers will likely feel their hips sinking into the top layer, which can lead to lower back pain over time.
What Does the Siena Mattress Feel Like?
The Siena mattress has a slow-moving memory foam feel. When you press your hand into it, the top layer will slowly snap back into place. Because it creates a “quicksand” sort of feeling, you’ll find yourself sleeping “inside” the mattress rather than on top of it.
Average Weight Sleepers – 130 lb – 230 lb
Average weight back sleepers will need a bit more lumbar support on the Siena mattress. Even though it has a base layer of high-density foam, it’s still not quite supportive enough to keep the spine in the correct alignment.
Side sleepers in this weight category should feel quite comfortable; the slow-moving memory foam should cushion pressure points. We don’t recommend the Siena mattress for average weight stomach sleepers This mattress is too soft to promote a healthy alignment.
Heavyweight Sleepers – Over 230 lb
We don’t recommend the Siena mattress for heavyweight sleepers. it’s a budget mattress, and they typically don’t provide enough support for folks who weigh more than 230 lbs.
In general, heavier people will find the Siena mattress feels much firmer – closer to a 7/10 on our scale. This means heavier people have a tendency to bottom out when they’re resting on this mattress. Heavier back and side sleepers will need more pressure relief, while stomach sleepers will need a bit more support.
If you fall in this weight category, consider purchasing the Nectar Premier mattress or checking out our list of the best mattresses for heavy people.
Lightweight Sleepers – Under 130 lb
Lightweight sleepers should feel comfortable in all three sleeping positions. Because smaller people won’t compress the comfort layers too much, they’ll feel a great balance of comfort and support. Yes – even stomach sleepers should get the hip support they need. If you’re a smaller person on a budget, we definitely recommend the Siena mattress.

Siena Mattress Construction
Let’s peel back the covers and check out the Siena mattress’s construction.
Mattress Height
The Siena mattress is 10” tall.
Cover
The cover feels thin, stretchy, and breathable. We don’t expect the cover to make sleepers feel hot at night.
Comfort Layer
When you peel back the cover, you’ll find a layer of body-adapting memory foam. This material has a classic slow-moving feel and gently contours the body. This is what makes it feel like you’re sleeping “inside” the mattress rather than on top of it!
Support Layer
Beneath the comfort layer sits a 2” layer of dense polyfoam. This material has a unique wave pattern to it, similar to an egg crate. This not only promotes airflow and breathability, but it acts as a transition layer.
Finally, you have a layer of high-density base foam. This is what provides the mattress with most of its support and durability.

Siena Mattress Performance
You can’t forget to examine a mattress’s performance features. We reviewed the Siena’s cooling features, motion transfer, edge support and more so that you can get a well-rounded understanding of what this bed has to offer.
Sleeping Hot or Cold
When it comes to cooling features, the Siena isn’t as advanced as its sister product, the Nectar. The polyfoam transition layer creates a bit of room for airflow, but if you’re a particularly hot sleeper, you probably won’t feel as refreshed as you would like. Instead, we recommend checking out our list of the best cooling mattresses.
Motion Transfer
Motion transfer is an important element to consider if you share a bed with a partner. If the mattress moves around a lot whenever your partner shifts around, you might not get the most restful night’s sleep.
The Siena mattress doesn’t isolate motion as well as many other memory foam mattresses we’ve tested. Chances are, you’ll still feel a bit of movement trickle over to your side of the bed if your partner moves around during the night. This may not be a deal breaker for deep sleepers, but some folks might prefer to find one of the best mattresses for couples.
Edge Support
Edge support is another important factor to consider! When you sit or rest near the side of the bed, will you feel secure?
Unfortunately, the Siena mattress’s edge support leaves much to be desired. I’m an average weight person, and I sank straight through the top two layers. Heavier folks will feel even less secure along the edge of the Siena mattress.
Durability
The Siena is a budget mattress, so it may not last as long as others on the market. We expect it to last about five years, which is about half the lifespan of a high-quality hybrid mattress.

Off-Gassing
When you unbox a new bed-in-a-box mattress, it’s common to notice a slight chemical smell at first. We call this “off-gassing,” and thankfully, that wasn’t much of an issue with the Siena. Some folks might notice a faint odor at first, but the smell will completely fade away after 48 hours.
Noise
The Siena mattress doesn’t contain any noisy innersprings, so it should remain silent for its entire lifespan.
Sex
Sexual partners typically want a mattress that feels responsive and bouncy. That way, they can easily switch positions and move around. Unfortunately, if this is top-of-mind, the Siena mattress won’t fit the bit.
This bed is a bit difficult to move around on, and sexual partners may feel themselves sinking into the top layer. If you need some other options, take a look at our list of the best mattresses for sex.
Company Policies
You can’t forget to read the fine print! Make sure to look at the company policies before purchasing a Siena mattress.
Warranty Info
The Siena mattress is backed by a 10-year warranty.
Sleep Trial
Siena offers customers a 180-night sleep trial period, so there’s plenty of time to test it within the comfort of your own home.
Return Policy
If you’re not a fan of the Siena mattress, you can return it for a full refund – as long as it’s within the initial sleep trial period.
Common Siena Mattress Complaints
The Siena mattress is a fantastic budget-friendly pick, but it may not meet everyone’s needs. The most common complaints have come from heavier folks. This mattress isn’t quite supportive enough for people who weigh more than 230 lb. Couples have also found some issues with the Siena mattress, because this mattress doesn’t have the best motion isolation or edge support.
How Does The Siena Mattress Compare To Other Mattresses?
When you’re shopping for the best mattress online, it might feel confusing. To clear things up, we’ll compare the Siena with two other popular mattresses, the Original Nectar and the Brooklyn Bedding Bowery.
Siena vs Nectar
Nectar shares many similarities with the Siena mattress – they are sister companies, after all! However, there are a few notable differences we should point out.
First of all, the Nectar mattress feels a bit more supportive than the Siena, coming in at 6.5/10 on our firmness scale. Both mattresses feature body contouring foam, but the Nectar mattress is infused with gel to help dissipate heat.
Some heavyweight folks may enjoy resting on the Nectar, but it’s still not suitable for those who weigh more than 300 lb. Even though the Nectar is considered one of the best mattresses for the money, it’s still not as affordable as the Siena.

Siena vs Brooklyn Bedding Bowery
We named the Brooklyn Bedding Bowery one of the best cheap mattresses, but it still costs more than the Siena. Depending on your sleep needs, though, the Bowery might be the best option!
Like the Siena, the Brooklyn Bedding Bowery feels slightly softer than average – 6/10 on our firmness scale. But unlike the Siena, the Bowery has a balanced foam feel. That’s thanks in part to the strong coils at the bottom. You’ll feel some nice body contouring from the gel foam comfort layer, but you won’t sink too far into the rest of the mattress. And because of this construction, the Bowery sleeps much cooler than the Siena.
The Brooklyn Bedding Bowery works well for lightweight sleepers and average weight side sleepers. It’s not quite supportive enough for stomach sleepers and heavier folks, however.
Who Should Get The Siena Mattress?

- Lightweight people
- Fans of a slow-moving memory foam feel

FAQs
Still have questions about the Siena mattress? We’ve got you covered.
How long will the Siena mattress last?
Because it’s a budget mattress, it doesn’t contain as many high-quality materials. For that reason, we expect it to last about five years – or half the length of a typical mattress.
Can you flip the Siena mattress?
No, this isn’t a flippable mattress. It contains a high-density base foam layer at the bottom. If you were to rest on that, you wouldn’t get the pressure relief you may need.
What if I don’t like my Siena mattress?
As long as you issue a return within the initial 180-night sleep trial period, you can get a full refund.
